Children compete for a good cause

TEKA Kindergarten Cup raised 5,000 euros for Ukraine Aid

A whopping 5,000 euros have now been collected during the fundraising campaign "Kindergarten children kick for Ukraine aid" during the TEKA Kindergarten Cup. The TEKA company and SpVgg Vreden raised this enormous amount.

After a two-year break due to Corona, the Vreden kindergartens met for the 11th time in the Hamaland Stadium to compete in football.

A total of eight kindergartens with nine teams took part. Parents, siblings and grandparents cheered the children on from the sidelines. In addition, five cheerleader groups created a great atmosphere during the breaks. Long and hard work was put into practising beforehand to give the tournament its very own charm.

After a neck-and-neck race between the kindergartens DRK, Der kleine Prinz, St. Felizitas and St. Nikolaus Ellewick, the latter was able to prevail once again and take home the challenge cup after the award ceremony. Since the challenge cup, which three years ago also went to the St. Nikolaus Ellewick facility, no longer had room for plaques, the company TEKA Absaug- und Entsorgungstechnologie donated a new, large one. All 120 children, whether footballers or cheerleaders, received a delicious Easter bunny as well as a well-deserved medal. In addition, each kindergarten received a cup and a football to continue practising diligently in the kindergartens.

But there was also a lot going on outside the courts. The speed of each child's shot was measured during the goal kick. The children had a lot of fun in the bouncy castle, on the club's own playground or in the TEKA Kids Club.

"At this point, we would like to thank the TEKA company for their commitment, which has already supported us over the years under the motto "SpVgg, Partner for the People". With this year's fundraising campaign, we hope to be able to offer a little relief, hope and support to the suffering population and the many refugees," explained the club's board of directors.

At the end of the tournament, everyone agreed: The TEKA Kindergarten Cup must remain a permanent fixture in the calendar of the SpVgg and the kindergartens in the coming years.
