Original replacement filter or replica?

A replacement filter is not an off-the-shelf wearing part. Whether your extraction system stays within exposure limits, how much energy it uses and how long it lasts all depend directly on the filter. The comparison shows what matters.

TEKA original replacement filters

  • Precise dimensions for your TEKA system – tight fit, no bypass
  • Defined, documented filter class (e.g. HEPA H13/H14)
  • Verified separation efficiency – constant across the full service life
  • Legally compliant with occupational-exposure regulations, verifiable in audits
  • Full system and warranty entitlement remains intact
  • Available from stock – fast delivery, no system downtime

Replica / third-party

  • Dimensional deviations and leaks possible
  • Filter class often not reliably documented
  • Fluctuating separation efficiency, higher differential pressure
  • Proof in audits and liability cases made harder
  • Risk of losing warranty and guarantee cover on the system
  • Delivery time and fit often uncertain

Performance that stays measurable

A filter is only good if its values stay stable across the entire service life: separation efficiency, pressure drop and airflow are precisely matched to the system on original filters. Replicas often deviate here – the result is falling separation efficiency, higher differential pressure and a fan forced to work against the resistance. That costs energy and shortens the life of the system.

Safety and legal compliance

Extraction systems are part of occupational health and safety. Only with tested filters of the correct filter class can you reliably meet exposure limits under the applicable regulations. With replica filters the filter class is often not reliably documented – a risk in audits, in liability cases and for the health of your employees.

The saving that isn't one

What a replica filter saves at purchase is often lost again through higher energy costs, more frequent changes and possible loss of warranty. Taken as a whole, TEKA original replacement filters are usually the more economical choice – and available immediately.

Frequently asked questions about replacement filters

Which replacement filter fits my TEKA system?

The right filter depends on your system type and series. The quickest and most reliable way to identify it is via your system's serial number – request it by serial number here. If you're unsure, our team will help you with a specific recommendation.

How often do I need to change the filter?

There's no reliable fixed interval – service life depends on the welding or machining process, workload and degree of contamination. What matters isn't the calendar but the condition: change the filter as soon as differential pressure or extraction performance indicate it's due (see the next question).

How do I know a filter change is due?

Many TEKA systems signal a due filter change themselves – via a differential-pressure or saturation indicator, or a direct change prompt. Check your system's indicator first.

In addition, you can recognise a due change by:

rising differential pressure, noticeably reduced extraction performance, visible saturation of the filter medium and – with activated-carbon filters – declining odour absorption.

Which filter types are there and what are they used for?

TEKA offers the right filter type for every application: filter cartridges and particle filters for fume and fine dust, HEPA filters (H13/H14) for the highest separation efficiency, activated-carbon filters against odours and gaseous substances, and pre-filters and aluminium-mesh pre-filters to protect the main filter stage. You'll find an overview of all types further up this page.

Are replica filters permitted or worthwhile?

Legally risky and rarely worthwhile economically: extraction systems are part of occupational health and safety, and only with tested filters of the correct filter class can you reliably meet the relevant exposure limits. With replica filters the filter class is often not reliably documented – and the warranty entitlement on the system may lapse.

How quickly is a replacement filter available?

Many common original replacement filters are available from stock and can therefore be delivered at short notice – helping you avoid system downtime. For special filters or larger quantities we'll give you the delivery time on request.

Can I change the filter myself?

As a rule, yes – on most systems the change is designed to need few or no tools. Important: switch the system off beforehand, wear suitable protective equipment (the collected dusts can be hazardous to health) and dispose of the saturated filter properly. The exact procedure is described in your system's operating manual.

Prefer to leave the change to specialists? TEKA also carries out the filter change as part of a maintenance contract – request maintenance.

Do you also offer maintenance and filter changes as a service?

Yes. TEKA offers maintenance for your extraction and filter systems – including checking the filter condition and carrying out the filter change professionally. This keeps your system reliably effective and compliant, without you having to keep track of change intervals yourself. Request maintenance.
